Volunteer Opportunities From: Every Meal

Volunteer: Tote Order Prep - October 2025

Come help us prepare special orders to deliver to our partner schools!

Preparing tote orders entails transferring Every Meal food bags from cardboard boxes into plastic totes.

A handful of our schools need their food bag bags to have some extra protection from tiny critters.   For these schools, after the order is picked by Volunteer Order Builders, we transfer the bags from cardboard boxes into locking plastic totes, and we could use your help!

About this volunteer role:

Our food boxes/totes weigh 25 - 30 lbs. This role requires repeated lifting and stacking of the boxes/totes.

Totes are labeled during the process to indicate the contents of each tote.

Volunteers must wear close toed shoes.

Volunteers must be a minimum of 12 years of age.  Minors must volunteer with a parent or guardian.

No special training is needed for this volunteer opportunity.  Every Meal staff will show you the process when you arrive for your shift!

PLEASE NOTE: Depending on the number of totes we need to prepare, shifts might be completed prior to the stated end time!

Health and Safety

Masks are currently not required but are encouraged if that is your preference.

If you feel ill or have flu-like symptoms, please stay home. Read more about the precautions we're taking and what we require HERE.

Every Meal reserves the right to cancel volunteers with 24 hours notice. Due to delivery needs being dictated by our school partners, some weeks may have fewer totes needed than originally forecast.  We promise we will do our best to give 24 hours notice in the event of a cancellation. Thank you for your understanding and support of our mission!

Volunteer: October 2025 Food Bag Packing - Teams Only

Thank you for coming to pack with us!

NOTE: This year, to maintain high show-rates of volunteers, we have separated each month of packing events into two concurrent volunteer opportunities. There will be a portion of each event for the "Individuals Only" posting and the remaining portion for "Teams Only" posting.

Team leaders should limit their team sizes to ensure no volunteer spots go unfilled. It is always better to underestimate! If you are wishing to schedule a team for 25 or more, please contact Liam Green, Volunteer Coordinator (lgreen@everymeal.org). FYI: Teams are considered groups of 2 or more.

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early for your packing event so we can start on time! Make sure to wear close-toed shoes.

First, we'll have a brief orientation in the volunteer center. Next we'll form assembly lines and pack non-perishable food items for people in our community who need it!

We are so excited to have you come pack with us! Find info on what to expect here.

Health and Safety

Masks are currently not required but are encouraged if that is your preference.

If you feel ill or have flu-like symptoms, please stay home. Read more about the precautions we're taking and what we require HERE.

Program: Food Bag Packing

Trying to register multiple people?

Check out our helpful instructions on creating a team here!

Struggling to register?

You may need to sign our new Volunteer Release Form first. This can be found under "Qualifications" when you click the arrow beside your initials in the top right corner of your screen.

What about Youth Volunteers?

Youth Volunteers have two options:

Create your own account and register (if you're 13 or older)  OR you can come with a signed Volunteer Release Form signed by a parent or legal guardian. Form can also be signed on-site. More info on youth volunteering found here.  What if all the volunteer spots are full?

You can add yourself to the waitlist. Any team management issues can be addressed by Liam Green - Volunteer Coordinator (lgreen@everymeal.org). You can also go to the public packing page and click the green button that says "BECOME A FAN" and you'll be the first to know when we post new opportunities!
